Opt-In / Permission Based E-mail Policy
Royal Inbox uses a confirmed opt-in policy to ensure, by email, that subscribers intended to join our mailing list. When subscribers join our mailing list through the subscription link on our website, we will send them an email message that contains a confirmation link. Subscribers must click the link to confirm they want to be added to our mailing list.
This policy guards against the possibility that a third-party added the subscriber without their knowledge or permission.
More about Confirmed Opt-In
Opt-in email advertising or permission based marketing is the process of broadcasting advertising messages via electronic mail wherein the recipients of these ads have expressed consent to receive them.
The opt-in processes requires that a potential prospect select the products or services they are interested in and wish to subscribe to. The benefit to this approach is that an individual who has expressed an active interest in an offer is a more qualified potential prospect.
Spamhaus defines this as:
"A process by which a bulk email marketer automatically verifies that an opt-in request did in fact come from the owner of the email address and was therefore not spoofed, mistakenly or fraudulently subscribed. The essence is that the subscriber MUST respond affirmatively to the initial confirmation request email or they are NOT added to the list. COI ensures that all addresses are added to the list legitimately, with the owner's permission.
For the user subscribing to a list, COI is as simple as replying to an automated confirmation e-mail or clicking a link in an automated confirmation e-mail. In professional list management software, COI utilizes a unique token (sort of like a single-use password) passed from the list software to the would-be subscriber, and the subscriber returns the token to confirm their permission. Such "closed-loop confirmation" has been Best Current Practice in mailing list management software since about 1996. Software handles all the token transactions and maintains logs to document each and every subscription."
